The Big Hole or Open Mine is an underground mine in Kimberley, South Africa. It was created when thousands of people searched for diamonds at the end of the 19th century and is claimed to be the largest hole excavated by hand. The Big Hole is an astonishing sight mined to a depth of 240m with a perimeter of about 1.6 km. Thrilling isn’t it??
