Respect

Dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis, left, performs on stage with dancer Christian Lightner at the 2014 TED Conference, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

She was a dancer who lost her left leg in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. She took to the stage with a new prosthetic limb to perform for the first time since losing part of her left leg. After 200 days of work, for the first time she danced a rumba on her new leg, to raucous applause from the crowd.

See her above, with dance partner Christian.

With her husband Adam Davis, an Air Force captain, they were both injured in the Marathon bombings.

The Edges

It’s very possible that your battered, old copy of the book contains some fore-edge painting, which is an illustration or painting that is hidden on the edge of the pages of the book. The technique allegedly dates back to the 1650s and we have no idea why people went through the trouble of painting on their old works of literature, but they are there.
